The Moon is Shrinking - The Moon was hot at the beginning of its life. The most accepted theory—proved by simulations and analysis of its surface materials—is that it formed after a massive collision of a Mars-sized object with Earth, around 4.5 billion years ago. The material ejected in the impact accreted to form the Moon. After that, the lunar surface suffered a period of massive bombardment of asteroids and meteors, which combined with the decay of radioactive elements, kept it hot for a long while.
So long, in fact, that it’s still probably cooling down today. But how much has it shrunk? Using data taken by the LRO, they believe the distance between the moon’s center and its surface shrank about 300 feet in the last one billion years.

Adrenaline Rush of the Day: Crocosaurus Cove park — aptly located in Darwin, Australia — has begun offering adventurous visitors a chance to “swim” with saltwater crocodiles inside a five-inch thick, 10ft-tall perspex box which runs along a monorail track across four crocodile enclosures.
From the Daily Mail:
Sallie Gregory, spokeswoman for the park, said: ‘Many people find the opportunity of getting to within a few inches from the jaws of these crocodiles exhilarating.’
‘People often get activity ranging from an aggressive attack to a casual eye-balling and swim past where the crocs are so close that they rub against the cage.’
‘Most of the women who take part say they are happy just to watch the crocodiles while guys tend to want the action and attack.’ […]
‘The top of the cage has two grated doors to stop anything entering the cage and a back up motor and separate chain operates to ensure that in the event of a malfunction, the cage can continue to operate.’
And it just so happens that one of the Crocosaurus Cove crocs is somewhat of a celebrity: He nearly ate Linda Koslowski’s character in the first Crocodile Dundee movie.

Life-Altering Compact Camper of the Day: Based on the classic three-wheeled Piaggio Ape, Industrial designer Cornelius Comanns’s “Bufalino” camper appears slight at first glace, but its insides are spacious enough to hold a bed, two seating units, a “cooking zone,” a sink, a water tank, a refrigerator, several storage compartments, and other creature comforts typically found in larger RV’s.
